'Microsoft' sending out dangerous new Internet worm
This one cracks me up. There is a new worm out there that will randomly encrypt exe files on an infected machine. The kicker is, that the worm itself comes in a file claiming to be from Microsoft. The e-mail appears to be a formal letter from Microsoft which includes a file that is supposed to update SSL certificates. I have to give kudos to the creater of this for its originality, but he better hope that Microsoft never finds out who he is.

Microsoft delays XBox launch
Well, Microsoft is also pushing back their next-generation console by a week. The new release date is November 15th. That won't give them much of a head start on Nintendo's Gamecube, which is currently scheduled to be released on November 18th. If they think they are going to monopolize the console gaming market like thay have with PC software, they have another thing coming.

We Call Them 'Modelizers' ...
Hoo Boy, AMD has done it again. Apparently their new processors will be identified by model number as opposed to CPU speed. For example, the AMD Athalon 1600 will be a 1.4ghz CPU. Apparently they are prohibiting motherboard manufactures from listing the CPU speed in the BIOS. They even justify the change by saying their 1.4ghz Athalon is faster than a PIV 1.6ghz CPU. Right.

AMD: Intel is 'devaluing' megahertz
Here is another interesting AMD story. AMD claims that Intel has devalued the meaning of CPU speed. They say that their Athalon 1.4ghz chip benchmarks higher than a Pentium IV 1.7ghz CPU. I'm going to leave this one alone.

AMD slashes Athlon prices
According to this article, AMD has cut the prices of their Athalon CPU's to compete with Intel's new 2ghz CPU. The Athalon 1.3ghz CPU is now priced $3.00 cheaper than the PIV-1.3ghz CPU. OK, lets recap. You can save a mere three dollars by buying a CPU that is more unstable than a Pentium, and produces more heat. LET ME AT EM!! The nice thing about working at an ISP is that we get to try out new hardware when we build sysyems for clients. the AMD systems are pure crap. nothing more.

Government should block Windows XP release
This is a wonderful article pointing out many reasons why Microsoft's next operating system should not be allowed to be released. Some people may think this is a bit extreme, but Microsoft is motivated by one thing - money. With XP, Microsoft can gain even more leverage for their company in the software industry. Less competition for Microsoft means more money for Bill Gates.

Gamecube: Disastrous Delay?
Nintendo has decided to delay the US Gamecube to November 18th, almost a two week delay. The reason for this is that Nantendo wants to make sure they have enough units ready for the launch. As long as I get mine, I'll be happy.
