The right side was built first and the rest as the family grew. I did not know my grandfather, missed him by about 28 years, and then the house was torn down when I was about three. I have many memories of things from that age and some may even be while at the old house, I’m not sure. The story goes that there was a fire in grandma’s bedroom (I did know her) and my uncles decided to just tear down the house (you had to know something about my uncles). The drawing is from an old photo with uncle Charlie on the left, then aunt May, Grandma, and my mother (June) leaning against the side on the right. I have notes and sketches of the old house based on conversations with some of the family and one day will draw the plans that probably never have existed in the first place. All in all this was a way of making a connection with my grandfather, and a reminder of a place where I spent some happy summers.
